Used for
A square-section column for lamp cords and firm hanger arms; the start of a round sinnet.
How it is tied
Four cords laid in a cross; each cord in turn is folded over its neighbour, the last one tucked under the loop of the first, and all four are pulled tight. Tied repeatedly in the same direction it spirals; alternating directions gives a square column.
