- Solid filling of shapes with a textured surface; leaves and petals in crewel work.
- How it works
- Long stitches laid side by side across the shape, each tied down by small slanting stitches in the same thread as it is laid, so a single thread does both jobs. The tying stitches can be lined up to form a pattern across the shape.
