Filling stitches: cm of thread per square cm of solid cover with all six strands (halve the strands and the figure doubles). - Laying a thread that will not pass through the fabric well (metallic, cord, wool, ribbon) along a line; bold outlines; goldwork.
- How it works
- The laid thread is placed on the surface along the line and held down at intervals by small stitches in a second, usually finer, thread. The ends of the laid thread are taken through to the back with a large needle and fastened.
