- Thread use (x)Line, knot, detached, couching, edging and composite stitches: cm of thread per cm of stitched line. Filling stitches: cm of thread per square cm of solid cover with all six strands (halve the strands and the figure doubles). Working figures used by the thread length estimator; they include the thread on the back but not starts and ends.
- 5.5 x
- Used for
- A rounder, firmer knot than the French knot, used in candlewicking and wherever knots must stay put.
- How it works
- The thread is wrapped around the needle in a figure of eight instead of a simple coil, then the needle goes down next to where it came up. The figure-eight wrap makes the knot sit up and hold its shape.
